No less interesting than all the rest

INSPECTION CHAMBER, PARIS, 2019
Finding no artisan prepared to undertake the delicate and time-consuming job of repairing a small area of damaged parquet, I resolved to do it myself.
Giving me the opportunity to devise an inspection panel held in place by VELCRO (technique of concealed fixing already used on other jobs).

DIVAN WITH QUILL LAMPS, 2019
Equipping the PARIGI sofa-cum-bed with reading lights had been provided for. The accessible hollow bulk-heads serve to house the 24v. electronic transformers for bands of LED lighting.

CEPPO TABLE LAMP, 2019
Housing for radio-controlled dimmer switch and assorted 24v. LED transformer integrated within the base of the lamp.

VIA GARIBALDI, PARMA, 2015
A friend asked me advice for a staircase she would have built.
This drawing & its plan view were to demonstrate how a flight curved in ascent of narrow width (0,60) would best do the job.
Built differently (0,70), of course.

SEPTIC TANK, PERIGORD, 2009
Astonishing revelation, the marbled clay bed, as polished by the digger’s articulated head before bedding in the tank.
It was imperative that the varioius aeraulic and hydraulic systems laid below ground not interfere with each other, indeed keep minimal distances.
To respect these technical issues, I had to design the levels and coursing on an Excel spreadsheet while drawing on paper.

FAMILY HOME IN PERIGORD, 2009
Air tubes (puits canadien or puits provençal in French) according to a detailed altimetric plan I designed with the aid of an Excel spreadsheet, to reduce internal ambient humidity in a farm conversion.
Before wrapping the tubes with an electrical resistance (puits roumain of my devising) which could further warm the incoming air in winter, on an intermittent basis regulated by electronic probes.

PRIVATE LIBRARY, PARIS, 2003
Fixed body vacuum cleaner lodged in a recuperated former fireplace. The flue guarantees “chimney effect” static ventilation of the bathroom via ducting below the parquet floor.

ATELIER d’ARCHITECTE, NICE, 1998
Perhaps fruit of an obsession with certain De Stijl architects and lessons learned from such antecedents, I devised this partition so that pipework be hidden within it but entirely accessible.
Effectively a wall become technical cupboard it also doubles as broom cupboard etc.

32 r. des TROIS BORNES, PARIS, 1989
Project designer & sole assistant to architect François BELLET, Paris.
Note the central volume above the roof, with the lateral inspection panel.
The fake souche de cheminée contains the mechanical plant for air extraction (VMC) whose shunt system I had the dutiful fun of devising 100% as there was no HVAC consultant to do it for us.

KITCHEN S., PARIS, 1987
The free-standing copper tube is the waste pipe from the bath and shower above. It passes through a stoneware gutter which collects the drained drips of suspended kitchenware….
An extractor hood in opalescent glass completes the installation.
