Ash glaze vase with manganese motif, 1973

Compared to Square vase 1, here the round-the-clock abutment of slabs and plan-squaring is not expressed constructionally, but played down in favour of vertical tiering (profile and ‘tide mark’ of the glaze). The asymmetrical motif however reminds is that the piece’s conception is not that of mirror-image symmetry.
